A Thought on Composition

A Thought on Composition blog post illustration of sumi-e style painting of yellow flowers.

According to Wikipedia, “composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art,… It can also be thought of as the organization of the elements of art according to the principles of art”.

In my understanding/experience, it is kind of a harmony that you bring out while creating your artwork. This is the harmony that there is within and without. If you connect with it and work from that place, your artwork will be well composed, without needing to apply “principles of art”. Why do we see so many disturbing, disharmonious artwork these days? Does it mean that the artist has lost the connection with that harmony?
