“Let the beauty of what you love be the beauty of what you do.”
– Rumi
I am in my studio,……painting/drawing. I love the process. Here I am totally in the moment, free of the mundane thoughts connected with something greater than self, filled with raw emotions, using the innate and acquired skills that I enjoy so much…. Well, not always so easy, as not all the emotions are pleasant. Nevertheless incredible creative experience.
After this meaningful time with myself, an artwork appears, which is a reminder of that special connection, and if successful, holding the energy of it…a powerful visual communication of emotions experienced
It would be great to end it here and enjoy the outcome, but an artwork is created, an item, an object that has a value, and like any other material thing, needs attention, care, purpose and destination.
Frank Zappa said “Art is making something out of nothing and selling it”.
I would agree with the first half of the statement, but the second? Is selling an art?…. It sure feels very different, almost completely opposite experience to creating.
This is a dilemma.
