The Creative Source “Tao Te Ching” verse 6 for Artists

by | Apr 29, 2014 | 2 comments

Verse 6*
The valley spirit, undying
Is called the Mystic Female
The gate of the Mystic Female
Is called the root of Heaven and Earth
It flows continuously, barely perceptible
Utilize it; it is never exhausted

The valley of the spirit (that quiet, pure space within and without) is what is real. In the creative process, with it’s ups and downs, one always comes to this still space, as it is the the creative source of the universe, like a mother figure always there and always nurturing our inspirations, dreams.

It is that caring love that is the base of the all creation. When we understand this, and connect with this creative source, we have access to limitless magical, artistic insights.

This is a very mystical, and powerful verse. Just makes me reconnect with that feeling, that I couldn’t describe before. That emotion of pure love that is pouring through me while I am painting or drawing….open, soft, unconditional…

 * I am using  Translation by Derek Lin as examples of verses, but there are many different translations with different nuances and sensibilities of the translators. This is my interpretations, geared towards creativity….isn’t that what life is all about ?

Thank you Emma for your kind comment. It is interesting how different the art can be, but when it is created with love, it shows…it always speaks to you.

Wonderful words and source of inspiration. I feel that I paint with love also, so I enjoyed reading about your interpretation of the verse through Art, and it's inspired results are beautiful work.
